Butterflies can be picked up in Temple Valley (Koolau Shopping Center) at no Charge Or by request, hand delivered (for a small fee) right to your celebration or special location. They arrive just hours before your event, so no worries! Store them somewhere cool and dark to keep them in a sleeping state. A small cooler is best. 10-20 minutes before the event starts, move the butterflies to a warm, bright place...but not in direct sunlight. Butterflies wake up and become alert. They are now ready to release! Live Butterflies come in a mass release box or individual envelopes which can be opened by you and your guests. When a release happens, a beautiful array of butterflies flutter slowly through the air, delighting family and loved ones as they glide along sparkling in the sunlight. The butterfly release envelopes are hand folded and designed to protect the butterflies from harm until released. The release envelopes are made of heavier paper stock and are three dimensional along the bottom to provide extra width in the envelope base to accommodate the body of the butterfly. The envelopes are folded over the top on two sides to keep the butterfly confined until opened at the appropriate moment by simply unfolding the paper, releasing the butterfly. As they emerge from their envelopes or release box, an appointed guest can read your favorite blessing or poem. Want help with your wedding plans? How to photograph or videotape a butterfly release:
Try to capture a specific moment and a specific butterfly. Get as close to your subject as possible. Do not try to capture the butterflies against the sky, as it will be very difficult to see the butterflies in flight, they will appear very small and in some cases will be impossible to see.

Since butterflies will head for bright objects, including flowers, wait for one to land and photograph it. You may want to reserve a few butterflies specifically for photography purposes. These can be placed in a refrigerator within their envelopes (not near the freezer) for about one hour. When you remove them from the refrigerator they will be cool and will not fly for some time. Carefully pick them up with wings folded between your second and third fingers.

Place them where you want them and shoot. In the sun, the wings will act as solar panels and as they begin to warm up, they will become more active and will soon take flight. However, there should be time to take some pictures before that happens.
